EPA Solicits Public Input on Vapor Intrusion – deadline May 24, 2013

U.S. EPA’s Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER) issued draft final guidance documents on vapor intrusion. The public has until May 24, 2013 to provide input.
As background, April 16, 2013, USEPA’s Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response released two draft vapor intrusion guidance documents for public comments.
- General guidance for all compounds
- Petroleum hydrocarbons released from underground storage tanks

Vapor intrusion describes the migration of volatile chemicals from contaminated groundwater or soil into the atmosphere, and is a particular concern if vapors enter an overlying building.
